NOW (China Version) |
Those who have been waiting for new music from Bibi Zhou are in for a treat as she is releasing not one, but two new albums. The Super Girl has certainly raised eyebrows with the unorthodox decision to simultaneously release her second and third albums, NOW and WOW, but they are great as both independent and companion albums. NOW plays to Bibi's strength and specialty: R&B. In addition to quintessential R&B numbers like "The Future is Now" (Track 10) and "Believe in Love" (Track 4), the young singer also takes on the challenge of covering the folk song "Liuyang River" (Track 1). Updating the Hunan classic with an R&B arrangement, she creates a unique crossover with the original singer, veteran Li Guyi, whose participation is truly a testament to Bibi's status in the music scene. Bibi also duets with Golden Melody Best Vocalist Nicky Lee in "How Are You?" (Track 8). NOW draws a lot from the singer's own personal experiences, covering topics like studying in Los Angeles ("City of Angels" - Track 5), friendship (A Feng - Track 3), words to her fans ("Each Other" - Track 7), and words to herself ("That Me Said to Me" - Track 6). After spending some time studying in the U.S., Bibi returned to China with music on her mind, and the result is two albums that once again attest to her musical talents. Renowned composers and lyricists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan like Zhang Yadong, Peter Kam, Andrew Chu, Kubert Leung, Lin Xi, and Cha |

Rock In The Road (China Version) |
Cui Jian introduced rock music in China 10 years ago with the first release of popular hit Yi Wu Suo You. The song was initially banned for several reasons, but that didn't stop the committed musician from making Cui Jian-style music which essentially defines rock music in China now. His manly voice powers the thought-provoking lyrics in Yi Wu Suo You, fully expressing its context. The album presents affective music from an artist of great influence. |

The Coast Guard OST |
Director Kim Ki Duk (Time), known for his non-mainstream art movies and controversial remarks, collaborates with Korea's hottest heartthrob Jang Dong Gun (Taegukgi) in The Coast Guard. A regular on the film festival scenes, Kim garnered a series of international spotlights with his militant flick The Coast Guard, which was chosen as the opening picture for the 2002 Pusan International Film Festival. The Coast Guard entails the gripping emotional tale of private Kang (Jang Dong Gun) whose life turns haywire when he kills a civilian whom he mistakes for a North Korean spy. The film that brought the audience to the edge of their seats is complemented with The Coast Guard OST. Paado ("Wave") (Track 20) offers a simple rhythmic beat combined with strong melody and the mesmerizing vocals of Lee Seung Yeol. Lee is a former member of the legendary Korean modern rock band You And Me Blues which set off a big fan craze with their melancholic, masculine appeal. |

WOW (China Version) |
Those who have been waiting for new music from Bibi Zhou are in for a treat as she is releasing not one, but two new albums. The Super Girl has certainly raised eyebrows with the unorthodox decision to simultaneously release her second and third albums, NOW and WOW, but they are great as both independent and companion albums. WOW sees Bibi taking on a wide variety of musical genres and styles, turning this album into a veritable one-woman musical. "No Rest All Year" (Track 1) is a fusion of R&B, a cappella, and rap, while "What" (Track 8) is a hard rock number very different from the singer's usual style. Bibi also tries out big band swing with "Cat's Adventure" (Track 7) and dance retro with "A Fool's Genius" (Track 6), and experiments with different singing styles in Oh Yes!! and "All To Meet You" (Track 4). Playing with lyrics, "Repetitive" (Track 3) makes use of a limited set of connected characters and phrases, and "Perspiration" (Track 10) champions environmental protection with humorous lyrics sprinkled with internet lingo. After spending some time studying in the U.S., Bibi returned to China with music on her mind, and the result is two albums that once again attest to her musical talents. Renowned composers and lyricists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan like Zhang Yadong, Peter Kam, Andrew Chu, Kubert Leung, Lin Xi, and Chan Siu Kei participated in Bibi's new albums, and the cover design and photography are the work of Tomas Cha |
